The Agency for Urban Development and The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has entered a collaboration for the establishment of a new traffic model for Oslo using Aimsun software. The model is intended to perform accurate analyses of traffic situations in Oslo, both at intersection, neighbourhood/city levels. It should be possible to analyse and visualise the effect of changes on demand and capacity for various methods of travel. The model shall use hybrid modelling of traffic in intersections with high traffic volume. Hybrid modelling means Aimsun's functionality to combine simulations and mesoscopic modelling of traffic. The model shall cover the entirety of Oslo municipality, Lysaker intersection [Lysakerkrysset] and Fornebu, and the intersections of Lørenskogveien between the Tangerud intersection [Tangerudkrysset] (E6 north) and the Robsrud intersection [Robsrudkrysset] (highway 159). There are approximately 337 signal regulated intersections with the area, and approximately 1 500 km of public roads. In addition, it may be relevant to include some private roads as required. The Agency for Urban Development has entered an agreement with Transport Simulation Systems (TSS), the software developer of Aimsun, for expert assistance in connection with the establishment of AOM. TSS shall assist the Agency for Urban Development with leading the project and can also assist by making program adaptations and carrying out complicated assignments where TSS is better suited than the Supplier. In some situations it may be necessary for the Supplier (this assignment) and the expert consultant (TSS) to collaborate. The interaction language is therefore English.
