The Radio Medical function requires a medical team to ensure that, as far as possible, the health of seafarers, fishermen and certain categories of persons on ship health is at a level similar to the conditions in land. The supplier must cooperate with the Danish Maritime Authority in all matters related to evaluation and further development of the maritime health service. The supplier shall cooperate with the Maritime Accident Investigation Board in all cases relating to the resolution of incidents relating to the course of illness on the ships.
The Radio Medical function requires a medical team to ensure that persons on board ships in need of medical treatment are equated with such persons onshore. The function requires that the supplier is accredited by DDKM, has experience with the use of telemedicine, as well as experience with a 24-hour watch system.
