Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH (GöVB) intends to build a new electric bus depot with a multi-storey car park and mobility hub in Göttingen.
The GöVB wants to upgrade the infrastructure of its bus depot for future transport services and, in particular, create the conditions for a gradual electrification of the bus fleet. The political committees have decided that the existing bus depot on Gustav-Bielefeld-Straße will continue to be used as the main location and will be converted or rebuilt accordingly. In addition, a decision in principle was made on the construction of a permanent bus depot for 40 electric buses at the Schützenanger and a multifunctional multi-storey car park. The construction of this permanent secondary location of the GöVB at Schützenanger has top priority for the time being in order to make the conversion/new construction at the main location on Gustav-Bielefeld-Straße possible in several construction phases with continuous full operation.
For the site at the Schützenanger in a central location in Göttingen, various framework conditions must be taken into account, which, among other things, lead to the fact that the floor space consumption of the new construction project is to be minimized. Therefore, there is no alternative to planning a combined structure consisting of a bus depot on the ground floor and a multi-storey car park on a minimum number of levels above the bus depot on the ground floor. In addition, further additional functions of a mobility hub are to be implemented in this multifunctional building at Schützenanger, which can place the overall project in a larger urban context and make a further contribution to the expansion of the public transport services of the city of Göttingen.
In order to create the necessary planning law, the decision to draw up the development plan for Göttingen No. 256 "GöVB Betriebshof Schützenanger" was passed. This is currently being set up. The area of application and thus the planning area is located about 1000 m northwest of the city center, between Leine in the west, allotment garden "Auf der Masch" in the north, district sports facility Maschpark in the east and Sparkassen-Arena or Schützenplatz in the south. While the existing park-and-ride area at Schützenanger was chosen as the location for the planning and implementation of the new construction project, the brownfield site to the west along the banks of the Leine is to serve as a compensation area for the "green" compensation within the plan. Part of the Schützenplatz next to the Sparkassen Arena, which is currently used as a park, logistics and fairground, is to be opened up for potential commercial use.
