The subject of the award is the provision of services in local rail passenger transport (SPNV) by the RU to be selected within the scope of this award in the area of responsibility of the responsible authorities (AT) on the regional train line RB 26, so-called "Middle Rhine Railway" ("MRB"), along the left Rhine route the Mainz - Koblenz - Cologne section.
The operating services are to be provided for a period of at least 10 years and operations will start when the international timetable changes in December 2023, probably on December 10th, 2023. The operating period can be unilaterally extended 3 times by one year each and then by an additional six months.
The services are to be provided on the following line section: Cologne / Bonn Airport. - Köln Messe / Deutz - Köln Hbf - Remagen - Koblenz Hbf - Bingen (Rhein) Hbf - Mainz Hbf.
