The project national road 509 Sømmebakken — Sola school is a continuation from project national road 509 Sømmevågen — Flyplassvegen, and it is the start of transport corridor West. The lot length is approx. 1 km, from profile -55-1030.
The main aim is to improve access to the port area in Risavika and Sola airport.
The project shall be constructed as a dual carriageway with a footpath on both sides. The total road width with the footpaths is approx. 34m.
There will be comprehensive relaying/new construction of water and sewage installations. The drainage from the road shall be led to a sedimentation basin/treatment basin before it is emitted to Havsfjord's inner basin area. There will also be major alterations for the cable departments, in particular Lyse, which also has important gas and high voltage lines in the area, which must be relaid.
Areas of archaeological interest have been uncovered along the planned road route, and these have been excavated. The project will be based on drawings and road models.
