The University of Leeds coordinated a joint procurement on behalf of its fellow collaborators at the University of Cambridge and University College London (UCL) for the supply and installation of cryostats.
A cryogenic THz scattering probe scanning near-field optical microscope (s-SNOM) will be developed using a low-vibration, cryogen free optical cryostat. The cryostat will be adapted to enable near-field THz scattering mode imaging at low temperatures, with kHz scanning rates and sub 30nm spatial resolution, that is capable of resolving surface and buried metallic features. The system will later be developed to study and modulate lateral transport in semiconductor devices.
