Under the Passenger Transport Act 2000 (Wp2000), the Executive Board of the Amsterdam Transport Region (the DB) is authorized to grant concessions for public transport on its territory. The Zaanstreek-Waterland 2024 concession concerns the exclusive right to carry out public transport by bus and car in the Zaanstreek-Waterland concession area, including the Foothills, with effect from the 2024 timetable year 2024.
This announcement was preceded by a preliminary announcement (PBEU 2020/S249-620875) and a market consultation/consultation on the draft Programme of Requirements (OJEU 2021/S 100-264009 and 2021/S 133-353768).
The Zaanstreek-Waterland 2024 concession concerns the exclusive right to carry out public transport by bus and car in the Zaanstreek-Waterland concession area from 2024. The concession area includes eight municipalities in the northern part of the Transport region, namely: Beemster, Edam-Volendam, Landsmeer, Oostzaan, Purmerend, Waterland, Wormerland and Zaanstad. In addition, the concession includes a number of foothills to surrounding concession areas. The Concession Area has more than 300,000 inhabitants. The Zaanstreek-Waterland 2024 concession starts on 10 December 2023 and will be granted for the duration of 10 years with a possibility of an extension of 5 years.
