The State Agency for Roads, Bridges and Waters (LSBG) plans, builds, maintains and operates a large part of Hamburg's transport infrastructure and is responsible for the entire life cycle of this urban infrastructure asset. These include bridges and other structural engineering structures (e.g. noise barriers and pedestrian tunnels) as well as water management facilities (e.g. locks, barrages and pumping stations), bank fortifications and the navigable part of the Alster, Bille and their canals.
The State Office for Roads, Bridges and Waterways intends to replan and renew Cycle Route 13 in the Eppendorfer Weg section, from Eimsbütteler Chaussee to Falkenried to promote cycling as part of the attractive expansion of the cycle route network, thus significantly improving the quality of the cycling connection.
See also section 2.4 below. the notice.
The area of responsibility is located in the districts of Eimsbüttel and Hamburg Nord in the districts of Hoheluft-Ost, Hoheluft-West and Eimsbüttel. The road section of the Eppendorfer Weg to be redesigned is a two-lane bidirectional district road with city-wide significance (BSGB).
Veloroute 13 is the inner ring route. It runs between Altona Eimsbüttel, Winterhude, Barmbek, Eilbek and Hamm. With the implementation of this measure, the cycle route network will be expanded.
The Eppendorfer Weg is located in a densely populated, lively urban space. The existing design of the road space has so far clearly been dominated by motorised private transport and does not adequately cover the needs of other road users. Due to the diverse use of this street, including retail, gastronomy, but also for purely residential purposes, the inner-city location and two intersecting cycle routes, the road offers a connection to numerous sources and destinations and can therefore become a central distribution axis for cycling. The changing character of the former main road to today's needs should be sensitively taken into account in the processing. In addition, in the course of the redesign, further optimizations and rearrangements of the different usage requirements in the street space will take place.
In order to make use of the existing, but also future high potential of cycling on the approx. 55,000 m² and 2,200 m long project area to be re-planned by the general public, the road space is to be redistributed in favour of non-motorised individual transport [IV] and, according to open space planning aspects, the potential for a high quality of stay is to be exploited by replanning the side space and redesigning it as a street park in sections.
