Tender for the sale and operation of public street lighting in the city of Hückelhoven

By decision of the city council of the city of Hückelhoven on 14.06.2023, the sale of the city's own lighting system and the associated performance of tasks for light supply (operation, maintenance and energy supply) will be put out to tender as part of a Europe-wide procurement procedure. The contract has a maximum term of 20 years.

In accordance with Section 14 (3) VgV, the call for tenders is carried out in the form of a negotiated procedure with a participation competition. Essential components and requirements for the supply of light are set out in the preliminary draft contract and bill of quantities. In addition, the possibilities and alternatives for future investments, modernization measures and lighting concepts are to be determined.

Due to the complexity of the sale of the city's own lighting system, it is only possible to work out a meaningful result for all partners and to meet the long-term requirements within the framework of a negotiated procedure.

The lighting system, which is owned by the city of Hückelhoven, comprises around 6,500 light points. These are powered by a separate lighting network with a length of about 240 km.
