The city of Herrenberg intends to renovate the listed fruit box on the outskirts of Herrenberg's old town at the former Tübinger Tor, as its structure and building technology are outdated. In addition, the face-to-face exhibition and cultural mediation in the exhibition house in the fruit box are to be repositioned. At the same time, a gastro room with a small regional market and a tourist information office are to be included.

In addition to the restructuring and refurbishment of the listed fruit box, a concept for the exhibition architecture and design of the new on-site exhibition and a concept for upgrading the adjacent outdoor space are also to be proposed.

The aim of the competition is to create an attractive and representative building that meets the requirements of a modern cultural and exhibition business as well as the statutory building requirements and is sensitive to the listed building stock.

The competition is a one-stage, non-open realization competition, with an upstream selection process, with 25 participants. The sponsor selects 6 participants in advance. The process is anonymous.

The object of the competition are architectural services according to HOAI for the implementation of the renovation and renovation as well as the realignment of the exhibition house in the fruit box in Herrenberg.

Applicant groups of architects and museum designers / exhibition planners are permitted. Architects with appropriate references in museum design and exhibition planning are also permitted.
