Kunnskapsdepartementet (The Ministry of Education and Research) (KD) has assigned The Directorate of Public Construction and Property the task of starting the work associated with the sketch project for expansion and new construction for the Viking Age collection at Bygdøy.

Specialist consultants in this contract shall identify which mechanical stresses the objects in the existing Viking Ship House may be exposed to. Both as regards construction work on the site and for any relocation. Furthermore, the collection's resilience as regards these stresses shall be assessed. Systems shall be designed to support and insulate objects that require protection from vibrations.
