The district of Eichstätt and Markt Kösching are planning a school center at the location of the Rudolf Winterstein School in Markt Kösching, consisting of a primary and secondary school (renovation and expansion) and a branch of the Eichstätt Special Education Center (new building).

For the time being, around 120 pupils are to be taught at the branch of the Eichstätt Special Education Center. The room planning is designed for a maximum of 160 students.

The elementary and middle school in Markt Kösching has 450 students. The building complex consists of several buildings, some of which are in great need of renovation.

Markt Kösching has already awarded the planning services for property planning buildings and interiors for the renovation and expansion (due to the introduction of all-day care, additional space is required) in an award procedure EU contract announcement No. 2018 / S 246-564760 published on December 21, 2018. In this context, the possible integration of the special needs school of the district of Eichstätt was also the subject of the planning considerations. According to the current state of affairs, a new building for the special school elementary school and a new building for the special school middle school (1-class, 6 classes), as well as a new construction of a simple sports hall are to be realized. The planning services of the object planning building and interiors regarding the new building of the branch of the special educational support center Eichstätt were according EU contract announcement No. 2020 / S 011-021883 of January 16, 2020 awarded.

The services of the performance profile of the technical planning technical equipment in the plant groups 4, 5 and 6 (ELT) according to § 55 HOAI i. V. m. Annex 15 number 15.1 HOAI step-by-step in service phases 1 to 9, as well as the special service of monitoring the removal of defects within the limitation period.

The aim of the cooperation is to implement the integration of the special educational support center at the location of the elementary and middle school. Synergies such as shared use of the gym, cafeteria, specialist rooms and the like should be generated.

Just as important is the inclusion of conceptual planning with regard to the desired inclusion of the students in both schools. Common meeting and learning spaces are to be created - both at the Rudolf Winterstein School and at the Special Education Center. It is also desirable to plan a common management and administration wing for both schools. The special educational support center is to be used jointly with the elementary and middle schools not only in terms of educational concept, but also spatially, as far as synergies permit.

The measure therefore provides for the creation of buildings and parts of buildings of the branch of the special educational support center in Eichstätt, buildings and parts of buildings for elementary and middle school, as well as buildings and parts of buildings that are used jointly.

The district of Eichstätt is the client for the share of the support center, while Markt Kösching is the client for the share of elementary and middle schools.

Subsequent to the property planning, the specialist planning according to HOAI awarded. Due to the different responsibilities for the two school complexes, the contractor will be commissioned by the Eichstätt district for the part of the branch office of the Eichstätt special educational support center and by Markt Kösching for the part of the elementary and middle school. Different contracts are required for this.

The entire measure must be planned and carried out during operation.

The completion and commissioning of the entire measure is planned for the school year 2024/2025 from 09/2024.

The builders value sustainable and regenerative planning and execution. Parts of the measure are to be implemented in wood or hybrid construction.

The rough cost estimate for the renovation and expansion of the elementary and middle school is around EUR 15 million gross. The rough cost estimate of the branch office of the special educational support center in Eichstätt (including the simple sports hall) is around EUR 22 million gross.

The room plan for both project plans can be found in the tender documents. The planning of the elementary and middle school is currently in the preliminary planning, the planning of the branch of the special educational support center Eichstätt is in the basic investigation.

A particular challenge - also the specialist planning - will be to link the different buildings and parts of the existing building and the planned new buildings with 2 different users. Complex building structures have to be integrated into the planning.
