Avon Fire Authority are looking to build a Major Rescue Tender for operational use within the Avon area. Due to the nature of the incidents that the Major Rescue Tender will attend, the vehicle must have a crane and winch to assist with rescues and road traffic collisions. As part of this build, a hybrid chassis would also be considered.
The procurement is split into seven stages as follows:
1. Standard Selection Questionnaire
2. Bidder Stage
3. Feasibility Stage
4. Design Acceptance
5. Chassis Acceptance
6. Fire Engineering & Body Build Acceptance
7. Overview Vehicle Acceptance
The procurement documents provide additional details on the stages and how the Authority will engage with Bidders.
The initial 4 year contract is for the build and warranty of the vehicle. However, the Authority has also included optional 11 year extension in 12 month periods for any potential servicing, maintenance and parts that may be required in the Major Rescue Tender operational life at Avon Fire and Rescue Service.
