The Danish Fisheries Authority hereby offers a contract to investigate the occurrence of ghost nets in Danish waters.
The main purpose of the project is to investigate the presence of ghost networks in suspected conflict areas for ghost networks in Danish waters. In addition, the project must test and adapt methods for efficient cleaning of ghost networks, which are at the same time gentle and cost-effective.
The Danish Agency for Fisheries, with this tender contract for the investigation of ghost networks in Danish waters, wants to enter into an agreement with a supplier that can assist the Danish Agency for Fisheries in investigating (and quantifying) the occurrence of ghost networks in suspected conflict areas for ghost networks in Danish waters. In addition, the Danish Board of Fisheries wants the supplier to test and adapt methods for efficient purification of ghost networks, which are at the same time gentle and cost-effective.
In 2016-2017, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency completed a pilot project on ghost networks in Danish waters conducted by DTU Aqua. This project is based on DTU Aqua's report. Ghost nets are nets, trawls, reeds, ropes, rags and ticks that are lost during fishing and may lie on the seabed or be attached to rocks or wrecks where they can continue to catch fish and crustaceans. In contrast to Denmark, for example. Norway did not focus on the presence of ghost networks. Therefore, basic knowledge about the extent of the problem is lacking in the Danish waters.
The tender is conducted as a public tender with the reverse tender, where the contract value is set at DKK 3,000,000.
