AKH Celle has 615 beds. A target plan created in 2003 and revised several times until 2010 was the basis of the 1st BA for the further development of the hospital. This was completed in 2016. In 2020, the target planning was fundamentally revised and as a result, the hospital's development axis was restructured. A new building is now to be built in a total of 4 construction phases (including the already completed 1st BA) along a main axis in the westerly direction. After completion of all 4 construction phases, this will include NUF 32 500 m2 for 550 beds and will replace the old building fabric.

In accordance with the target planning, this 2nd BA comprises approximately 25,000 m GFA, including the entrance hall, U/B areas, 132 beds, supply and disposal as well as logistics.

The budget of 2 BA KG 200-700 is EUR 88 million gross.

The commissioning is carried out in stages and by construction, initially only up to and including design planning to the extent necessary for the grant application (HU Bau) for the second phase of construction.
