The objective of CIATF has been to increase the availability of good quality water in different regions of the island of Tenerife to correct the water imbalance that puts at risk the supply of its population centers. As a more effective measure, the necessary facilities were executed for the commissioning of several portable desalination modules, owned by CIATF, in different locations on the island, including the Güímar Valley Industrial Estate, where a module capable of producing 1,000 m3/day of desalinated seawater is currently installed. At first this facility had a seasonal operation, especially during the summer season, as a reinforcement of the supply system of the Shire. However, in recent years, the Tenerife Island Water Council has been able to verify the structural nature of the need to support the Güímar City Council in water production for urban supply, which is why the current Operation, Maintenance and Conservation Functions Service contract of the portable Seawater Desalination module located in the Güímar Valley Industrial Estate (2020/169) was processed. continuity of the demand for new sources of supply in the Region during the coming years and, on the other hand, that the current service contract (2020/169) is close to completion, it is necessary to promote a new contracting procedure to give continuity to the service.
