The school center Am Heimgarten, Reesenbüttler Redder 4-10 in Ahrensburg is occupied by the two school facilities Eric-Kandel-Gymnasium and Community School Am Heimgarten. The building complex was designed in 1973 as a Kassel model and has been continuously expanded.
See also section 2.4 below.
As part of the school development planning of the city of Ahrensburg, additional space requirements for class and group rooms arise for both schools, which must be served by a 1st phase until 12/2024. Depending on the redistribution of uses and requirements within the building structure, expansion with up to 26 classrooms and 13 group rooms is necessary. In a second phase, the energetic and fire protection refurbishment of the 2-storey structure in the old building with 24 classrooms and IT specialist rooms (3,600 sqm GFA) is planned by 12/2027. The outsourcing of the classrooms should, if possible, be covered by the extension. A third phase includes the renovation of the old building in the area of the forum (3 100 sqm GFA) and the natural science wing (3,000 sqm GFA). The measure takes place during operation.
The aim of the procedure is to develop a sustainable concept in terms of content and space at the interface between pedagogy and architecture.
