The Regiobahn GmbH plans to extend the S-Bahn line S28 east to Wuppertal Hbf. In this context, the Regiobahn announces the platform extension of two platforms and the construction of the platform roof on track 2 of the Bf. Mettmann Stadtwald. The planned construction project is located on the line 2423 between km 15.4 and km 15.6 in Bf Mettmann Stadtwald. The platform extension is made in an easterly direction on both platforms. The platforms will be extended by 33 or 34 meters. In addition to the platform extension, a new construction of a platform roof on track 2 and the adaptation of the access situation will be carried out.

The S-Bahn line S28 of Regiobahn Fahrbetriebsgesellschaft mbH runs on a total of 34 kilometers from Mettmann via Erkrath, Dusseldorf and Neuss to Kaarst. Between Düsseldorf-Gerresheim and Neuss Hbf, a 16-kilometer section of DB Netz is used. Regiobahn GmbH is the infrastructure owner for the remaining 18 kilometers.

The S-Bahn line S28 is to be extended east to Wuppertal Hbf. For this purpose, the line will be extended from the present endpoint in Bf Mettmann Stadtwald on the there existing freight line to Bf Dornap-Hahnenfurth and will be integrated in the Dornzw DB route 2723 (vup Wuppertal - Essen) the S9 between Wuppertal and Essen.

The platforms will be extended by 33 or 34 meters.
