The City of Espoo Tilapalvelut (later the Client) requests tenders for the implementation of the renovation and extension of the Tapiola swimming hall as a cooperative project management contract.
The building was completed in 1965 and its architectural design has been handled by Aarne Ervi. The swimming pool was renovated and expanded in 2005. The design and implementation take into account the cityscape, architectural and architectural values of the Tapiola swimming pool, which will be maintained in connection with the redevelopment and renovations.
The swimming pool building consists of the original part, completed in 1965, and an extension in 2005. In addition, there is a separate jumping pool and a children's paddling pool in the yard. Behind the paddling pool is a grandstand structure.
All facilities and outdoor areas of the swimming pool will be repaired or partially built as a new structure in connection with this project. The main pool hall will be built mainly as a new structure according to the original look. The roof structures of the main pool hall and their load-bearing pillars will be preserved. The new structure will be a large pool, a small teaching pool, three- and five-metre jump levels and a fixed grandstand with 350 seats. The jump pool built outside, as well as the paddling pool and grandstand structures (sunbathing site) will be rebuilt according to the original look.
During the renovation in 2005, a small extension was built on the north side, including a multifunctional pool (therapy pool) and a paddling pool, gym and basement. The 2005 extension will be corrected as necessary.
The floors of the current suit-washroom wing are too low for modern technology. The three-storey suit-washroom wing with its cellars will be completely demolished and rebuilt to roughly the same extent on two floors, allowing the wing part to expand to the east. A full-scale basement will be built under the new 2-storey extension, where technical systems for the swimming pool will be installed.
