Description:

University College Birmingham is based in the heart of Birmingham on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter at Summer Row, Birmingham, B3 1JB. The University provides a mixture of Higher Education and Further Education.

Over a number of years the University has assembled its land in order to enable future campus growth and further modernise its teaching and learning facilities for students through a phased development approach. Phase 1 of this development is due to be completed in early 2014.

The University is now embarking upon Phase 2 of this development and seeks project management and employer's agent services for the construction of the new development on Phase 2 (circa 85 000 square feet) primarily to replace the existing Richmond House, Newhall Street Birmingham where vocational Further Education (FE) is now undertaken. This will include both a main teaching facility but also provision for car parking (possibly multi-storey) adjacent to that main teaching facility, possibly on a phased basis. Phase 2 will complete the development of the University's facility that will line the street frontages to Holland Street, which is a cobbled road adjacent to Phase 1.

The University requires a Project Manager /Team that is highly motivated and has the ability to fully understand its client and their business objectives. Individuals will need to be exceptional leaders that can generate momentum, drive and compliance within the design team and at later stages the contractor. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a track record of successful project delivery (H&S, time, cost and quality) and will have a significant construction contracting background / knowledge.

The appointed Project Manager will be expected to drive and lead the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) for the project from inception to completion; RIBA stages 0 to 7 inclusive.

It is anticipated that Phase 2 would open for business in September 2017.
