It is the responsibility of the General Directorate of Roads of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, the operation, conservation, maintenance, improvement and construction of the roads that are of its ownership. Proper road maintenance includes clearing the margins to avoid the detrimental effect that vegetation has on roads and traffic as a result of reduced visibility. Periodically work must be carried out to clear the margins of the road, in order to proceed with the elimination of herbaceous and shrub vegetation that grows both in the ditches and in their

contiguous areas. The General Directorate of Roads is entrusted with the Conservation of the Road Network of the Region of Murcia of autonomous ownership. To this end, it is divided into six sectors, being the object of this contract the sectors of Cartagena, Mula and Cartagena.

The works include:

1. PRUNING AND SELECTIVE FELLING. It consists of pruning and felling the bushes, shrubs and shoots of trees that have grown on the margins of the road and that may hinder circulation, impair visibility to traffic, deteriorate the road or whose development supposes a continuity between trees and soil that could favor the spread of fires, as well as limit their height and that a massif of dimensions appropriate to the function that they are able to be formed Intended.

2. CLEARING. It consists of clearing vegetation, two strips, one on each side of the road, considering a width of 3 meters. In general, the clearing shall be carried out mechanically, with a hammer or hammer brushcutter.

Hydraulic arm blades coupled to tractor, crushing vegetation into remains smaller than 10 cm. Finishing at ground level with a maximum height of 1 cm. Subsequently, the plant remains will be collected and removed to an authorized landfill and road sweeping or manual or blower cleaning. At those points or sections where mechanical clearing is difficult, manual clearing will be carried out.

3. HERBICIDE TREATMENT. It will always act on previously cleared roads, in two strips, with an average width of 3 m. A maximum of three treatments per year will be carried out distributed in spring and autumn, and a summer review, in the sections of roads that are thus determined during the term of the contract on dates that will be determined depending on the area and weather.
