Conception, planning, client consulting, construction and commissioning supervision for a new large-scale heat pump system with approx. 150 MW thermal output in Cologne-Niehl for district heating production

RheinEnergie AG intends to build a new large heat pump system (GWP plant) with a thermal output of approx. 150 MW for district heating production at the HKW Köln-Niehl site.

The large heat pump system consists of the following sub-areas:

- Large heat pump consisting of 2 - 3 large heat pump units including I&C and construction technology

- River water extraction and discharge with a capacity of approx. 24,000 m³/h consisting of plant technology (including pumps, sieve breaks, fish protection system, etc.) I&C and construction technology;

The examination of the possible need for a river water discharge is part of the task.

- District heating water circulation consisting of booster pumps with a capacity of approx. 5,000 m³/h and approx. 5 bar pressure increase for district heating delivery to the FW network, I&C technology and construction technology

- System connection of the GWP plant with each other and connection to the existing system consisting of:

District heating connection with supply and return pipe (approx. DN 800 – 1000) via the site to the connection point into the network at the property boundary is to be planned including steel construction (supporting structure), insulation and fittings,

Connection on the river water side with underground pipelines DN 1.800 between river water withdrawal, large heat pump and river water inlet and power supply of the GWP plant on the 10 kV or 380 kV voltage level from the grid connection to the electrical consumers
