The object of the contract is the implementation of Smart City Actions in the Municipality of Thessaloniki. This contract is part of the Project "Actions for the Creation of a Smart City in the Municipality of Thessaloniki", which concerns the transformation of the Municipality of Thessaloniki into a smart city, through the implementation of upgrades and expansions of IT and Communication technology infrastructures, the development of E-Government, the acceleration, simplification, and upgrading of the services provided through information and communication technologies, the formation of modern and citizen-friendly structures and processes, as well as the enhancement of transparency in its operation.

SECTION 1
Development of Data Center at the Municipality Building.
In order to enable the hosting, operation, and management of all ICT infrastructures included in the actions of this project as well as the hosting of the extensions of the network, it is deemed necessary to modernize, expand, and the infrastructure of the Computer Room at the Municipality Building, which is of outdated technology, limited capacity and unreliable. This upgrade will lead to the development of a modern data center capable of providing the services specified in the other actions of the Project, to the citizens and the staff of the Municipality.

SECTION 2
Interconnection of Municipal Authority Buildings to support Smart City.
It concerns the interconnection of the 26 medium and large buildings of the Municipality. The interconnection will enable the development and operation of advanced broadband services, such as cloud services, IoT, artificial intelligence, the sharing of Integrated Information Systems (IIS) and will greatly increase the effectiveness of the Municipality’s services, while allowing for a high level of data and application security and will enable the application of modern methods of management, operation, and maintenance in the hundreds of PCs of the Municipality.

SECTION 3
Wireless Internet access points.
As part of the project, there will be procurement and installation of next generation wireless access equipment, so that telematics services can be provided to the public visiting or accessing the Municipality's building facilities or public spaces. The wireless network will be called to meet current needs as well as innovative services that can be adopted in the future, taking into account the potential utilization of IoT devices, data analytics etc.

SECTION 4
Smart monitoring of public spaces.
The optical sensor system marks the Municipality's entry into the innovative chapter of technology that concerns not only the assurance of the integrity and safety of building infrastructures and their contents, but also the development of methods for the detection and counting of human resource concentration with the ultimate goal of transferring these technologies to other public gathering points in the metropolitan area. The data resulting from this analysis is valuable and, with the help of data mining and artificial intelligence methods, can contribute to the improvement of citizens' daily lives.

SECTION 5
Personalized training services.
The project includes the training of Municipality staff who use and support Smart City infrastructures and applications, with the ultimate goal of serving citizens and creating intellectual capital in new technologies. The training of municipal employees and executives is anticipated. The aim is to enhance the added value of the other actions of the call, thanks to the training of the Municipality's staff in new technologies.
