Description:
The Leibniz Institute for Food System Biology seeks expressions of interest for the delivery, installation, and commissioning of a two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry system, including user training and necessary components.

This announcement serves as a preliminary information for market exploration regarding an intended public procurement (EU-wide). Interested bidders have the opportunity to express their interest. Please send your expression of interest by April 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM exclusively to the following email address: vergabe.leibniz-lsb@tum.de. There is no legal claim for participation in this tender. The Leibniz Institute for Food System Biology at the Technical University of Munich intends to award a contract based on this service description for the delivery, assembly, installation, instruction, and complete commissioning of a two-dimensional gas chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometry system (GC×GC-TOF/MS System) with an EI ion source and a liquid nitrogen GCxGC thermomodulator. Furthermore, a secondary GC oven for a separate heating process of the second GC column (2nd dimension) should be present. In the first dimension gas chromatograph, injection must be possible using an autosampler. The scope of services must also include the delivery and installation of the supply lines for gases to the gas chromatographs (nitrogen, helium) and the thermomodulator. Additionally, the contractor needs to provide a computer with a monitor and software for measurement operation and data analysis. The GC×GC-TOF/MS System must meet all specifications listed according to point 5.2 and following, in addition to the generally required functionality. Compliance with the minimum requirements is a mandatory prerequisite for the evaluation of the offer. Failure to meet these requirements will result in exclusion from the procedure. The system is expected to be kept up to date throughout its service life through regular software updates. A robust, future-proof hardware platform is otherwise required. Delivery will be made free of charge to the following premises of the Leibniz-LSB@TUM: Room E.28, Lise-Meitner-Str. 34, 85354 Freising. This is a laboratory room on the ground floor of the building.

All components must be fully integrated into the overall system. Minimum requirements are set for the specifications of the individual components of the GC×GC-TOF/MS system:

1. Capillary Gas Chromatograph:
- Cold-on-column injector
- Constant-flow flow control
- Helium as carrier gas
- Secondary GC oven
In the GC oven, a secondary GC oven must be installed so that the 2nd dimension can be heated to a temperature different from that of the 1st oven.

2. Thermomodulator
- Cryofocusing at -150 °C by means of a thermomodulator
To guarantee the cryofocusing of volatile substances from the 1st GC column to the 2nd GC column, we require a thermomodulator capable of reaching temperatures of -150 °C.

3. Mass Spectrometer:
- Time-of-flight mass spectrometer
- Mass range of 10-1500 amu
- Required ionization techniques:
- Electron ionization (EI)

4. Autosampler for liquid injection (1-10 µl syringe) and SPME
- Peltier-cooled sample tray holder (10 °C – 40 °C)
- Sample tray for 2 ml vials
- On-column syringes
- SPME equipment:
- SPME holder (manual tool change)
- Bake-out station for SPME fiber

5. Supply Lines for the Gases
- Installation to the two gas chromatographs (nitrogen and helium) and
- to the cooling trap (distance gas taps to device approx. 1.5 m)

6. Control PC with Software
- Control PC including suitable software for measurement operation and data analysis, at least 23-inch TFT monitor with mouse and keyboard
