The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe AöR (abbreviated: BVG) is the central transport company for local public transport in Berlin.
In addition to the subway network and the tram, BVG operates an extensive bus system with over 150 bus lines during the day and 45 night bus lines. At the heart of the bus lines are the depots assigned to the lines, where all regular maintenance and work to ensure bus operation is carried out.
With the introduction of e-mobility at BVG in the bus sector, completely new aspects have now arisen in addition to the pure maintenance and renovation work at the depots, to which it is necessary to react structurally.
The present tender relates to Berlin's largest bus depot on Indira-Gandhi-Straße in Berlin Hohenschönhausen. Mainly operated lines in the northeast of Berlin are to be stationed and loaded here.

Reason for planning:
In accordance with the Berlin Mobility Act and the Berlin Local Transport Plan 2019 - 2023, BVG's bus operations are to be completely converted to non-fossil drive energies by 2030.
The electrification of the bus fleet by 2030 will be implemented in several expansion stages. The conversion projects play a role in this in order to meet the future requirements of alternative drives and the increasing need for parking. These projects will be combined in a program for the realization of the workshop infrastructure for e-mobility and implemented accordingly as part of an overall stage concept.
The gradual build-up of a fully electrified electric bus fleet places new demands on the existing and future infrastructure of the tracks as well as on the depots. In the coming years, it is expected that the number of electric buses will grow steadily.
Part of the Indira-Gandhi-Straße depot has already been equipped with charging infrastructure as part of the electromobility ramp-up phase. The experience gained here has shown that the necessary measures are complex. The upcoming final expansion of the bus depot is to be realized during ongoing operations and is therefore planned in 2 construction phases.
This specification refers to the planning of the parking area for both construction phases.
