On January 1, 2021, the Free State of Bavaria founded the new Nuremberg University of Technology (UTN).
Interdisciplinary, international and digital - this will be the conceptual core of Nuremberg University of Technology. An important goal is to link engineering sciences with other topics in society, with a clear focus on artificial intelligence. In addition, the focus is on English-language teaching, digital forms of learning and forward-looking research topics.
In the medium term, the UTN campus will offer space for up to 6,000 students on about 37 hectares and combine learning, teaching and living in one place. The project is currently one of the most important higher education policy projects for the Free State of Bavaria.
In the northern area of the future UTN campus site between Munich, Brunecker and Dr.-Luise-Herzberg-Strasse, six new buildings are to be built in four phases. These buildings represent the founding buildings as well as the logistics centre of the university currently under construction in the first stage of development.
The loose furnishing of the foundation buildings is the responsibility of the Nuremberg University of Technology. The planning of the loose furnishing will be assigned across all foundation buildings. This is to ensure that the equipment elements are subject to the same basic principle and can form a basis for the future further development of the campus area.
