As a maximum provider, UKH is seeking a suitable solution for digital patient education. The system should enable efficient, comprehensive, and legally compliant patient education.
Currently, UKH relies on the basic module of Thieme Compliance E-ConsentPro in conjunction with an HL7 interface from the hospital information system ORBIS by Dedalus for patient education forms. The basic module offers over 2000 educational forms from more than 30 medical fields and currently allows for individual printing, filling, and signing on paper. The current basic module provides a setup where patient education forms can be retrieved and printed independently of network availability to remain capable in emergency scenarios. Over the past year, approximately 116,000 forms were processed through the Thieme Compliance E-ConsentPro basic module.
The goal is to enable digital education. This should reduce the time expenditure per patient education through automated data transfer and provide patients with the opportunity to engage with relevant documents independently of time and location. An automatic and legally compliant documentation of the processes must be ensured. The patient education should be conducted on a mobile device (tablet) prior to the medical consultation. Additionally, this opportunity for patient education should also be available through the mobile at-home workflow. The form data should be transferred from the hospital information system (KIS) Orbis by Dedalus and completed by the patient. In the medical conversation, the pre-filled forms should then be reviewed with the patient and legally signed. Perspectives aim to make the forms available to the patients through the patient portal planned by Dedalus (Patient XCare Suite) at UKH. The goal is to create a fully digital solution that functions throughout the entire hospital and is integrated into existing hospital processes to minimize internal efforts.
Depending on the offered system, either an EVB-IT system contract or an EVB-IT cloud contract with a one-time special termination right until December 31, 2025, and unlimited possible extension each time by 1 year should be concluded.
