Description:
The project aims to develop a media database with AI-supported services, allowing teachers to access and manage a wide range of educational media, including innovative formats like VR and AR, with the help of artificial intelligence for efficient search, management, and curriculum alignment.

The aim of the project is the development of comprehensive backend front-end systems for the distribution of commercial and free educational media. With the help of these services, it should be possible to record, manage and distribute future-proof, licensed and tested teaching media in order to be able to map established and new forms of media, contemporary licensing models and possible uses both administratively and on the user side in the media portals.

LOT-0002
Development Design/UX.
MKIS - Media database with AI-supported services The project aims to break new ground in the development of a media database with an attached media library: In addition to proven digital media, teachers are to be given new opportunities to make the learning process in their classes interactive, diverse and future-oriented by providing innovative formats such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Artificial intelligence is intended to help store the various media in the database in such a way that they can be searched for unerringly, clearly managed, and used in a differentiable manner and in accordance with the curriculum. All media accessible via the media library have been checked under licensing law or should also be able to be assessed by a commission of seconded teachers and marked accordingly by means of didactic and pedagogical criteria. The states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hamburg are involved in the development of MKIS under the leadership of Baden-Württemberg. 1 Short description "Development Design/UX" The responsive design and UX of the media library, the rental module and the administrative interfaces are to be developed. The aim is intuitive use and transparent, quickly comprehensible interaction between the various sub-offers. The results should be provided as Adobe XD or Figma templates and the technical service providers should be involved in the design process as soon as possible in order to avoid technical hurdles and unnecessary additional effort. The MUNDO (https://mundo.schule/) and SESAM (https://sesam.lmz-bw.de/media-center-select) media libraries serve as references for the development of the user interface. 2 Short description "MKIS core: media database with media library" The MKIS core includes a flexibly adaptable organization and user administration with corresponding role and rights management, users must be able to be integrated via various interfaces. All media or media collections should be documented and managed in detail in the administrative area with diverse and expandable metadata, and in a collaborative process of several actors, it should also be possible to examine them in detail digitally. It also includes a license management system for the media. The media library is intended to be a central place for teachers to search for media, manage them via a personal area and use them for pedagogical purposes. Media should be made available in such a way that they can be easily used in teaching contexts, including via learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle. In addition to the usual digital media, it must also be possible to integrate newer formats in order to be able to design lessons, for example through interactive, three-dimensional exploration of objects through augmented reality (AR) or by exploring geographical locations in virtual reality (VR). In the media library and especially in the backend, it must be possible to use diverse and effective search options. The search and other individual components of the MKIS core should be usable individually for different federal states. In addition, interfaces must be created for future extensions of the MKIS core. 3 Short description "Rental module" A rental module is to be developed to manage the rental of equipment (e.g. VR glasses or 3D printers), which is handled by district media centres. This should include the recording and management of the devices as well as the lending by authorized persons, including reservation options. What is needed is organizational, user and device management that can map the entire process from device reservation to collection and delivery of the devices, including device checks and receipt of deposits, and also enables communication between borrowers and the district media centers. 4 Short description "AI integration" The work with the media database is to be supported by the possibilities of artificial intelligence on the one hand in administrative tasks and metadata generation and enrichment for the individual media. On the other hand, AI technologies (possibly AI technologies). LLMs) can also be used for more comprehensive tasks and, for example, link media with other sources (curricula of different federal states), or enrich media with automatically generated language versions, or can also be used in the media library for user support.
