In 2009, the German Aerospace Center purchased a laser transceiver from Lockheed Martin:
Model: WindTracer, Model No: 2MA0003470-0500 REV 1, SERIAL NO: 1001.
The laser transceiver is part of a wind lidar system that is currently under construction. In addition, the wind lidar system is currently being approved for operation on the HALO research aircraft.
The laser transceiver is not functional at this time. The laser pulse energy is < 1 mJ, and the laser pulses are not adequately seeded. This means that no wind measurements are possible with the current laser performance.
For this reason, the following activities are requested within the framework of this call for proposals/requests:
