Tenderlake Genius – a service that turns your website into a robot that finds open public contracts – wins EU Datathon 2018, organised by the EU Publications Office, the body responsible for publishing tenders and other procurement notices across the EEA.
Tenderlake Genius – a service that uses AI to turn your website or marketing materials into robots that hunts for open public contracts – has won the 1st Prize in the EU Datathon.

The EU Datathon was organised by the EU Publications Office, who every day publish thousands of contracts and other procurement notices from across the EEA and saw sixteen finalists compete in four categories.
On the 2nd October, the sixteen applications were presented at the final in Brussels, attended by teams and stakeholders from across the EEA.
Tenderlake won the 1st prize in the category “EU public procurement — Value for citizens, value for businesses” with our application Tenderlake Genius.
Other challenges focused on food safety, legislation and innovation.
Tenderlake GeniusThe idea behind Tenderlake Genius is to make it easy for potential and existing suppliers to the public sector across EEA to identify open contract opportunities.
Just provide Tenderlake Genius with a link to your website or a web page describing a specific product or service.
Tenderlake Genius then reads the webpage and understand what products or services it describes.
It uses this understanding to identify relevant open contracts and notifies the user via email when good opportunities are found.
It continues to identify relevant opportunities every day and never tires.
Tenderlake Genius is not limited to using your website to identify relevant contracts, as it can also use digital marketing material like brochures, sales leaflets, product descriptions or white papers.
AI Identifies more OpportunitiesAdditionally, Tenderlake Genius can also understand when buyers and sellers are describing the same product or service using different phrases.
Having read and learned from millions of procurement documents, Tenderlake Genius is able understand that when a seller’s website explains that when the seller is offering “training services” this likely to be a good match if the buyer in the procurement notice wants to buy “services to help up-skill our workforce”.
Tenderlake uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to move beyond simple matching of words, phrases or CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) to instead match the meaning and intent of buyers’ procurement descriptions and sellers’ descriptions of their products and services.
Constantly Learning and ImprovingLast, but not least, Tenderlake’s AI improves every single day from reading and analysing the thousands of public procurement notices in EEA as well as any feedback given by users.
