The WNA Datteln has been entrusted with the planning of the expansion of the Wesel-Datteln Canal from the Rhine to Marl (project W 23 of the BVWP). For this purpose, a preliminary investigation is to determine which expansion variant is most suitable for the overall project, whereby the effects on nature and the environment are also an evaluation criterion.
The service advertised here is intended to evaluate all retrievable or queryable environmental information and to assess the expected effects of the various variants. It must be examined whether insurmountable ecological or environmental obstacles in the sense of enforceability under public law stand in the way of the realisation of the project from the outset (feasibility and comparison of the effects of the different variants). It is to be presented and evaluated which conflicts are to be expected along the upgraded line due to the expansion of the various route variants, by a possible relocation of the transverse structures and by the new construction of the locks. The study area to be considered includes the 40 kilometre long upgraded section (including locks and transverse structures) with an examination area on both sides.
A detailed description of the services to be provided as well as information on the expansion project itself can be found in Appendix 2 to the draft contract (14_1A02_Leistungsbeschreibung_und_Leistungsbild_Voruntersuchung_ENTWURF.pdf).
