GVB is the manager of the tram and metro system in and around Amsterdam on behalf of the Amsterdam Transport Region. In the context of its multiannual replacement programme, extensions of its timetable and line network and for the purpose of inflowing new equipment, seven sub-projects with regard to traction energy supply must be carried out in the coming years. The aim is to maintain a stable and robust traction energy system for tram and metro. With the installation, cable and construction work, GVB wants to adjust its traction energy supply of the metro to the changed need that will arise due to the influx of new metro equipment.
For tram there is a new need due to the expansion of the line network and there is a replacement need at a number of locations.
