Boreal Transport Midt-Norge AS is a public company with approx. 240 employees, and is operator of bus and rail. The company's operations include Gråkallbanen in Trondheim, which is the world's northernmost tramway line. The tracks extends from down town at 10 m above sea level to Lian at 240 m above sea level. The steepest climb is 40:1000 (4 %).

The purpose of the procurement

Maintenance of Gråkallbanen requires a work vehicle that can run on both roads and the railway's own infrastructure. The vehicle shall be equipped with crewlift for work on the trolley line, and i.a. could also be used for clearing snow off the rails. It must also be equipped with other equipment as needed.
