The new equipment will be used in surgical procedures on the skull and spine by neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, trauma surgeons, and maxillofacial surgeons.
The system must be capable of providing high-resolution imaging for both spinal and cranial surgeries. The system must allow real-time imaging to support surgeons during complex procedures. Applications include surgery for spinal deformities, degenerative and traumatic spinal surgery, skull base surgery, deep brain stimulation (DBS), stereotactic biopsy, etc.
Looking towards the future, the compatibility/availability of a robotic system for spinal applications, DBS, stereotactic biopsy, etc. will also be evaluated. However, this robotic system does not form part of this purchase.
