SURF is looking for a partner to continue and expand the SURFwireless Wi-Fi service. The purpose of the tender is to find a suitable partner who also fulfills the role of supplier of hardware. This is formalized in an agreement that defines the rights and obligations of both parties. The result is a service that the Partner provides together with SURF to jointly deliver a distributed but centrally managed Wi-Fi network to educational and knowledge institutions that are affiliated with SURF UA. SURF receives from its members. We are explicitly not looking to continue with an existing standard WiFi service from the market.

The current SURFwireless 1.0 installed base covers some 3,000 access points. Within this tendering process, the existing SURFwireless 1.0 locations are expected to be equipped with SURFwireless 2.0 components after the applicable contract terms have expired. In addition, we foresee growth in the total scope of the SURFwireless service.

The ambition is more than doubling to tripling in a period of five years.
