Location(s):

Description:
The project aims to operationalize climate adaptation indicators in the building sector to fulfill legal obligations and update the German Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change, involving data collection, evaluation, and the development of reporting and visualization tools.

The research project described here serves to fulfill the legal obligations arising from the Federal Climate Adaptation Act (KAnG) for the area of responsibility of the BMWSB in the building sector. The project results must be prepared in such a way that they can be directly incorporated into the update of the German Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change (DAS) 2028.
The overall task builds on the completed research project "DASmmZ" for the development of response indicators in the building sector. It is divided into six work packages with different focuses. The central element is the one-time operationalization of six previously developed core indicators. This involves finalizing the methodology, collecting, processing and evaluating all required data, as well as presenting the results in fact sheets and providing raw and analyzed data.

Another work package includes the evaluation and revision of existing measures and instruments of the climate adaptation strategy in the building sector. This involves reviewing content as well as sensibly complementing and further developing it. In addition, management and quality assurance tasks are carried out, including the development of a workflow for future automated evaluation and presentation of raw data as well as data delivery within the framework of DAS reporting to BMUKN and UBA.

An overarching work package bundles coordinating and supporting tasks. Reporting forms a separate package for the structured presentation of the results. Optionally, a data and map visualization, for example in a dashboard, as well as the one-time operationalization of two additional indicators, are also planned.
