In order to comply with the Disability Equality Act (BehiG), all railway stations in Switzerland must be barrier-free by 2023 at the latest. As part of the Implementation of Rail Access 2023 (BZU23) programme, all stations are being reviewed for the need for action with regard to safety, accessibility and capacity. In order to ensure barrier-free access, the platforms in the stations must be raised to a standard height of 55 cm above SOK according to the BehiG. Littau station currently does not meet the requirements of the AB-EBV and the Disability Equality Act.
