Together with a civilian cooperative for renewable energy and energy efficiency with direct participation for the cooperatives, the Torhout local government wants to realize a citizen participation project in which solar panel installation (s) supplied, installed and managed by an energy cooperative deliver green energy to the local administration and in special to a project of electric sharing cars. The solar panel installations are placed on buildings of the local Torhout administration.
In this way we want to produce green energy, we encourage the citizen to participate in the project, we create support and greater involvement for green energy and we want to contribute to better mobility with fewer electric cars on the road. away). Moreover, the project fulfills an exemplary role for a combination of sustainable energy and sustainable mobility.
To be able to register for this assignment, the energy cooperative must work in accordance with the International Cooperative Alliance principles.
These 7 ICA principles are the following:
1) voluntary and open membership;
2) democratic control by members;
3) economic participation by members;
4) autonomy and independence;
5) education, training and provision of information;
6) cooperation between cooperatives;
7) attention to the community.
