The Project consists of the design, construction and finance of a package of three discrete construction schemes (M8 Baillieston to Newhouse, the M74 Junction 5, Raith and the M8/M73/M74 Network Improvements) (the New Works) and the finance, operation and maintenance of the motorway network provided by the New Works, associated structures and related elements and part of the existing motorway network (the O&M Works) for a period of 30 years after completion of the New Works. Elements of the New Works not included in the O&M Works, including but not limited to, side roads and accommodation works, will be subject to a 5 year defects correction period.
M8 Baillieston to Newhouse provides 5km of offline and 5km of online dual motorway and 10 km of parallel dual all purpose road together with, but not limited to, associated roads, junctions, structures, culverts and associated works.
M74 Junction 5 Raith provides a three level grade separated junction with a new direct A725 link which will pass below the existing M74 motorway junction, together with, but not limited to, associated roads, junctions, structures, culverts and associated works.
M8/M73/M74 Network Improvements comprise of the widening of the existing carriageway by an additional lane at: M8 eastbound from Junction 10 to Junction 8; northbound and southbound carriageways of the M73 between Junctions 1 and 2; northbound and southbound carriageways of the M74 between Junctions 3 and 5; and southbound carriageway of M74 motorway between Junctions 5 and 6, together with, but not limited to, associated roads, junctions, structures, culverts and associated works.
