The Wastewater Treatment System (Steu) of the COPE of Mesnil-Saint-Père was commissioned in 1973 and has a nominal capacity of 1,550 Equivalent Inhabitants (PE). This structure treats all effluents from the town of Mesnil-Saint-Père whose particularity is to be a tourist town, with a high attendance in summer. This tourist influx generates a strong variation between volumes and incoming loads on the STEU in low season and high tourist season.the discharge of the STEU takes place in the ru du Plantin which joins the Barse. The quality of this stream, which also collects rainwater from the municipality, as well as the drainage of agricultural land, is degraded by discharges from the STEU.
