The port facility of the canal port in Haldensleben no longer corresponds to the state of the art and is to be renovated. Along the terminal Kanalhafen with a shore length of approx. 365 m there is a flat-based double-track crane runway with a length of 236 m. The crane runway no longer meets up-to-date requirements in terms of equipment, training and structural condition. This crane runway needs to be modernised. The formation of a flat-based seamless reinforced concrete structure with tugging beams and drive-over cranes is planned. The separable power supply, as well as a trailing cable route for two cranes must be integrated into the structure on the water side. The quay system must be equipped with bollards, spars, ladders and quay sockets in accordance with the state of the art. The upstream piles shall be pulled and appropriate friction piles provided. The quay system must be statically recalculated for the modified crane foundation and the handling facilities. The port area is to be planned accordingly over an area of approx. 280 m x 12 m and provided with a surface fastening corresponding to the state of the art and use. The existing supply and disposal pipes with a cable conduit system and rainwater drainage as well as the special structures for drainage must be adapted and overplanned. Terminal lighting, including the connection of the pole-mounted luminaires, as well as the supply connection of the transshipment facilities are to be overplanned as technical equipment of plant group 4. Construction must be carried out under restricted port operations. The canal port is connected to the classified road network via the L24 "Dessauer Straße" road. The traffic area of the port facility is paved with an asphalt surface, which shows considerable wear due to its long-term service life.
The connection to the public road network is via an approx. 140 m long access road, which connects to the L24 by means of a corner rounding. This access road is also to be upgraded in the course of the construction project.
