The contracting authority would like tender offers for the purchase of a new tank lorry for Sør-Odal Fire and Rescue. The tank lorry that is currently in use by the fire service is old and does not meet the current standard.
The contracting authority would like tender offers for both three-axle and four-axle tridems. The contracting authority will decide on the type of vehicle when the contract is awarded.
Sør-Odal Fire and Rescue currently has a tank lorry of the type Volvo F10 1986 model. The fire service fully depends on this vehicle to be able to carry extinguishing water to various types of fires throughout the municipality. The vehicle also plays a decisive role in extinguishing efforts and the final result when there is a fire. This vehicle is always taken along in order to ensure that we have a definite water source in our extinguishing efforts, even when arrangements have been made for extinguishing water via the municipality's mains. In winter, it takes time to find manholes due to snow and ice. Fire manholes may have water ingress or have faults and shortcomings which make it impossible to connect them. In a time-critical phase where water is our most important resource for limiting fire, the tank lorry is brought along in order to be on the safe side. In the event of a failure of the municipal water supply due to water leaks or flushing work, a tank lorry is absolutely essential.
It must also be mentioned that in the ROS analysis from 2015 (ref. Fire and Explosion Protection Act § 9) it is emphasised that we have solid tank lorry preapredness. The requirement for tank lorry preparedness is pursuant to the Fire Prevention Regulations § 21.
