The historic town hall in the Rotehornpark Magdeburg is to be completely renovated and expanded.
The town hall was built in 1927 and is one of the most important buildings in the city of Magdeburg, both as an outstanding monument (Bauhaus architecture) and in terms of functionality for holding numerous events.
The building is approximately 100 meters long, 50 meters wide and up to 22 meters high. The load-bearing steel structure is walled with a clinker brick facade.
The town hall was rebuilt after partial war destruction in the 1950s and 1960s.
The planned renovation includes the facade, the conversion of the hall area into a contemporary multi-purpose hall with appropriate stage technology, the creation or modernization of company, artist and administrative rooms and the structural reorganization of the functional areas.
A new stage house will be added on the north side of the town hall. The additions and extensions from different eras that were previously on the north side of the town hall are being dismantled.
The building and operating systems must be completely renewed.
The outdoor facilities are to be redesigned.
