UAntwerp-ELCAT aims to design and construct a modular electrolysis pilot plant (TRL7), which is intended for the electrochemical conversion of CO2 into mainly CO. This TRL7 prototype electrolyser will be developed in the frame of the Horizon Europe – Twin Transition Threading-CO2 project (https://www.aspire2050.eu/ThreadingCO2). The entire property will belong to UAntwerp-ELCAT and will (initially) be installed on BlueApp. This pilot plant will contain the complete infrastructure and components necessary for the direct electrochemical conversion of CO2 with the ultimate goal of delivering 30 kg/h CO as output within the Threading-CO2 project. As such, the planned pilot plant will be larger than the systems currently available within Europe and will be modular in such a way that different target products can be obtained and that it is possible to work within a wide range of operational conditions. The purpose of this procedure is to choose one partner who will be responsible for the design and construction of this modular electrolysis pilot plant (TRL7) for research and development. The design and construction and the entire process towards the final design and construction must meet the requirements given in the specifications.
