A new radiation protection laboratory is to be built on the premises of the Asse II mine. That
The planned laboratory building is divided into two directly connected components. Component A (3 above-ground
Floors and 1 basement) will be built outside, in front of the western gable wall of the existing shaft hall
erected. Component B (2 above-ground floors) will be integrated into the shaft hall. The laboratory building extends
on an area of approx. 12 m x 15 m outside and approx. 10 m x 9 m inside the shaft hall.
On the ground floor of building A, a radionuclide laboratory (RNL) of room category 2 (RK 2) according to DIN
25425-1 (Radionuclide laboratories - Part 1: Rules for interpretation). The 1st floor of
Component A is used for the examination and storage of samples from the environment. On the 2nd floor of
In addition to office use, component A is the central installation room for the ventilation system (ventilation centre)
envisaged. In the basement of building A, in addition to storage rooms for laboratory operation, there are rooms
building services and information technology.
In component B there is a room on the ground floor for sample preparation for the RNL and a room for the
Sample storage from underground with sample lock as well as a storage room for solid and liquid substances and a
Material lock to the shaft hall. Furthermore, the two-storey warehouse for retained samples is located there.
This is accessed from the ground floor and has an internal staircase to the 1st floor.
