The contract (E12) is part of the project Hell — Værnes which deals with new
track system on the stretch from Hell to Værnes, including a new bridge over
Stjørdalselva [Stjørdals River]. It has been decided to demolish the old bridge when the new bridge has been commissioned.
The contract deals with demolition and partial land filling of the old Stjørdalselva bridge.
The bridge is a 5 span truss bridge of steel placed on 2 land abutments and 4 pillars of stone
and concrete. The total length is 179.5 m distributed across 5 spans. In addition, tracks (sleepers and
rails) on the length of the bridge are to be removed. The method of demolition is to a large degree left to the contractor
within the limits set as a result of the completed safety analyses
organised by the Contractor. The Contract also involves 1 bridge span and parts of
the construction being removed completely to be used for research purposes.
The removed bridge span shall be moved and mounted on a new concrete slab that shall
be located south of the bridge. All works in this regard, including construction of
the concrete slab are included in the contract. It is assumed that the foundation can be executed
without the need for piling.
