The Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority/NRPA invites companies to an open tender competition for an assignment comprising an independent evaluation of a completed project with comprehensive Norwegian financial and professional assistance for the removal of radioactive strontium batteries (Radioactive Thermoelectric Generators /RTGs) in Northwest Russia. The batteries (180 RTGs) have been used as energy sources in Russian beacon lights. Tenderers must be able to document professional experience with making evaluations of environmental and health risks, and professional experience from their own project management. This is, amongst other things important in order to be able to evaluate the handling, removal and transport of the radioactive strontium batteries. The main delivery of the evaluation work will be a publicly available report that accounts for examinations carried out by the tenderer for the evaluation with emphasis on:
— Effectiveness of project management for the Norwegian support to the RTG-removal project in the Northwest Russia,
— Success in achieving improvements in nuclear safety and environmental protection.
