Regional Landscape Lage Kempen carries out works that are part of the Molenheide nature management plan. The works will take place in the Wild- en Wandelpark Molenheide, in Houthalen Helchteren in Belgium. The works cover different work zones (approx. 13 ha) and include:
- removal of tree and shrub storage
- chopping and plagging of litter layer with removal of material
- plagging of enriched sandy top layer with transport of material within project area
- leveling of rebates
- stronkenfrezen
- pulling out stumps with drain
The works are part of the nature restoration within the habitat directive area in the Molenheide Wildlife and Walking Park. We work in 3 work zones with a total area of 12.87 ha. The objective of the works is heathland and land dune restoration by:
- removal of storage approx. 11 ha,
- chopping of plot with pipe straw approx. 3.3 ha,
- individual stump milling of approx. 7.8 ha,
- removal of the litter layer (slabs) with crawler crane and tilting tank of approx. 10.4 ha with removal of the plagsel: estimated volume of organic material of approx. 11,000 m3
- sticking away from sandy layer to max. 25 cm depth for land dune restoration: approx. 6.3 ha with total volume estimated at approx. 10,0003. Sandy fraction is used within the project area.
- pulling out and removing stumps over a surface. of approx. 4.6 ha.
