The city of Göppingen intends to convert and extend the existing day care center on the property in the Freihof in the District of Faurndau. Due to the high demand for daycare places and the planned new construction area in the district of Faurndau, the existing day care center "Kinderhaus im Freihof" is to be expanded into a 4-group facility in order to meet the demand. An inclusion of the previously undeveloped attic of the existing building is possible and must be examined for reasons of space. There should be two Ü3 groups in extended opening hours and one Ü3 group as well as

a crèche is created as a full-day group.

On the approximately 1880 m² plot area, taking into account an optimized use of the property, both the urban context is to be taken into account and a high-quality new building in timber construction with integration of the existing building is to be created.

The subject of the competition are services according to HOAI for the conversion and expansion of a day care center in timber construction in Göppingen.

The competition is offered as a one-stage non-open implementation competition, with an upstream selection procedure, with 8 participants. The organizer selects 1 participant in advance.

The process is anonymous.

Interdisciplinary applicants or interdisciplinary applicant communities that meet the professional requirements are eligible to participate. The professional requirement is the entitlement to use the following professional titles in accordance with the legislation of the country of origin: Architect and

Landscape architect. The applicant communities of architects and landscape architects are absolutely challenged.

The landscape architects are named in the application documents.

Landscape architects do not have to provide any references.

In doing so, the pedagogical and organizational requirements and all requirements/laws for the construction of day-care facilities must be taken into account. The existing building and the new building are to be structurally connected.

The special feature of the task is the connection of the new building to the existing building of the day care center as well as the integration into the structure of the old town center. Furthermore, due to the limited size of the planning area, an optimized use of land must be developed.

The aim of the competition is to maintain a high-quality, economical and sustainable building for this location that responds sensitively to urban planning and functional requirements. The framework conditions mentioned in the auspacement must be taken into account.
