Description:
BN00030 New workshop Norderstedt - Lot 1 extended shell

Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH for short) is a partner in the Hamburg Transport Association and operates 170 routes with over 2,300 employees and 662 buses at 13 locations in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.

In order to be able to expand the orientation of bus transport towards e-mobility, VHH depots have to be converted accordingly. For this purpose, VHH is planning the construction of a new workshop and administration building on Hans-Böckler-Ring in Norderstedt as well as the corresponding demolition of an existing workshop and administration building.

In the new building, two lanes for the buses are to be created on the ground floor: the workshop lane with a roof workstation, brake tester and light parking space. The maintenance track with a car wash and fuel pumps. In the middle of the two lanes are the necessary technical and storage rooms.

The upper floors house the administration, changing rooms, information point and other necessary technical rooms. On the mezzanine floor there is a large meeting room with roof terrace.

The second floor cantilevers over the washing and tank track hall at a height of about 5.50m, creating a canopy for parked materials and the external fuel pump.

In the covered outdoor area, a fixed, WHG-compliant concrete surface with the dimensions of approx. 4m x 7m is to be produced. This will be used for the outer diesel fuel pump and for filling the 60 thousand litre underground diesel and AdBlue tanks.

Bus operations and administrative operations will continue on the existing premises and in the existing building during the construction phase, so that the installation of the construction site must be closely coordinated with the company's operations. According to the current state of planning, the demolition of the existing building will take place at different times, parallel to the new building.

The building will receive a ventilation system. The building is heated by means of heat pumps, which are operated by geothermal energy. The required geothermal deep probes will be created, with a time delay / parallel to the construction of the structure, in parts of the later depot, so that its creation will have to be coordinated with the ongoing bus operation as well as with the construction operation.

In the area of the existing workshop and the administration building, the north parking area for solo and articulated buses will be built in a later construction phase, at the same location after demolition. An underground extinguishing water retention basin will also be built in this area, within this construction phase.

Essential parts of the bus depot will also be built with new infrastructure (including drainage, electrification) and finally largely repaved, with a time delay/parallel to the construction of the building or the dismantling of the existing building, so that the construction of the infrastructure and the depot will also have to be coordinated with the ongoing bus operation as well as with the construction company.

The construction project will be put out to tender in trades. The present award procedure includes the extended shell construction as a partial general contractor.
